The final TUGS meeting of the 2017 season was held at Three Locks GC

And so we came to the final meeting of 2017 with realistically only 3 people who could catch Gary Brazier for the 2017 TUGS Champion Golfer title.  To topple Gary, one of Pete Lucas, Roger Dimmock or Steve George had to shoot a seriously good score. With overnight rain and damp conditions, the 3-Locks course was playing long and it just didn’t happen. In fact it didn’t happen for any of the 22 members who turned out and enjoyed this challenging course. The winner on the day (on countback from Jean Barnett) was Steve George with just 30 pts. Steve remarked that he had never before won a competition with a score which would lead to his handicap going up!

But overall, its hats off to Gary Brazier who put together the 3 best rounds of 2017 and deservedly wins the TUGS Champion Golfer title for 2017….. and who will be cut to 18 for 2018!

Special mentions to the 3 Matt’s for winning nearest the pin, nearest the pin in 2 and longest drive and to Matt Ramm, Alan Marks and Gus Orchard who won the keenly contested Team prize. Also to the 7 new members who joined us at 3-Locks….we look forward to seeing them and all our regulars next year.
